Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to join Cub Scouts?

For the 2015-2016 program year, the dues are $60.  Your dues cover the cost of enrollment, a scout handbook, a scout neckerchief & slide, a one-year subscription to Boy's Life Magazine, and many Cub Scout pack events.  Some activities, such as camping, require additional fees.  Our local Cub Scout pack, along with the Greater St. Louis Area Council, work to keep out-of-pocket costs to a minimum.

Will my son's other activities interfere with Cub Scouts?

Most, if not all, of our Cub Scouts are involved in other activities, especially sports.  It is expected that your son will not be able to attend each and every event, although we encourage as much participation as possible.  Your scout's den leader will work to schedule activities around your scout's other commitments whenever possible.

My son has not participated in scouting before.  Is he too old to join now?

Any boy in grades 1st through 5th living within the boundaries of Holy Infant Parish is eligible to join our scouting program.  A boy can join Cub Scouts at any time, even if he has not participated in the scouting program previously.  Throughout the year, your son will earn the necessary achievements that prepare him to advance to the next level.

How frequent are Cub Scout activities?

During the school year, we generally hold one pack meeting each month.  This meeting will include all scouts: Tigers (Grade 1), Wolves (Grade 2), Bears (Grade 3), and Webelos (Grades 4 and 5).  Individual dens, which consist of scouts in the same grade/rank, will meet on a monthly or semi-monthly basis.  In addition to pack and den meetings, there are various activities held throughout the year.

What happens once my Cub Scout has completed 5th grade?

After 5th grade, your son will be able to continue on with Boy Scouts.  Holy Infant Church is proud to sponsor Troop 627, our local Boy Scout troop.
