Welcome to Troop 285's website.
The Boy Scouts of America provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.
For over 100 years, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through over a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.
Troop 285 is a boy-led troop, meaning our Scouts are responsible for planning and leading their Boy Scout experience. We also have dedicated Adult Leaders who provide a safe and encouraging environment for the Scouts to try new things, reach their full potential, and follow the principles of the Scout Oath and Law.
Camping is a big part of the Scouting experience. The Troop camps about 12-15 times a year. We believe camping is integral to the Boy Scout experience as it provides the opportunity for the boy to apply his scouting skills.
During the summer, our Scouts have the opportunity to attend a one week Summer Camp at Camp La-No-Che in Paisley Florida. Additionally, we offer a one or two week high adventure “Big Trip” involving Whitewater Rafting, Kayaking, Canoeing, or Backpacking.
Troop 285 is successful in the development of boys only through the dedication of parents and/or other relatives who volunteer their time and talents to keep the troop moving forward. There are a variety of roles and responsibilities that need adult leadership, many of which require just a small amount of time and effort.
Please take the time to join and review our website and refer back often as it is updated frequently.
Thank you for allowing us to be involved in your son’s development. His involvement in Scouts will influence him for the rest of his life and his experiences will be priceless.
Yours In Scouting,
