Girl Scout Troop 10896

Welcome to Junior Troop 10896
We are Fourth Graders from Susquehanna Township and
Central Dauphin School Districts located in Harrisburg, PA.

We are part of the Harrisburg Area Community Group 181 and the
Girl Scouts in the Heart of PA Regional Council.

What Do Girl Scouts Do?

Girl Scouts earn badges, hike and camp, participate in the cookie program, and much more. They improve neighborhoods, protect the planet, design robots, and establish sports clinics.

The Girl Scout program is fun with purpose! It is based on the Girl Scout Promise and Law that generations of girls have followed. In 2008, Girl Scouts launched the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, represented by three keys of leadership—Discover, Connect, and Take Action—to promote the Girl Scout Mission: Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.

We measure what girls gain as they move through the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, a set of activities and experiences designed to deliver specific benefits to girls at every age level.

Underneath the fun, the Girl Scout Leadership Experience is working to help girls:

  • Develop a strong sense of self
  • Develop positive values
  • Gain practical life skills
  • Seek challenges in the world
  • Develop critical thinking skills
  • Develop healthy relationships
  • Promote cooperation and team building
  • Resolve conflicts
  • Advance diversity in a multicultural world
  • Feel connected to their communities, locally and globally
  • Identify community needs
  • Become resourceful problem solvers
  • Advocate for themselves and for others, locally and globally
  • Educate and inspire others to act
  • Feel empowered to make a difference in the world

And it doesn't stop there. In addition to the benefits that will help her in every area of her life, being a Girl Scout can help her excel in every subject at school.

Why Join Girl Scouts?

Check out what caregivers and volunteers have to say:
  • 95% of caregivers say she's made more friends through Girl Scout
  • 89% of caregivers say their daughter is happier because of Girl Scouts
  • 90% of caregivers say their girl has grown more confident through Girl Scout
  • 95% of volunteers say they make girls lives better at Girl Scouts (and that makes them happy)
  • 88% of Girl Scout volunteers say their volunteer experience with us makes their life better
  • Two thirds of volunteers say Girl Scouts has helped them professionally

For Every 100 Girl Scouts

For every 100 girls who join Girl Scouts:

  • Four will earn the Girl Scout Gold Award-the highest award for girls.
  • Twelve will have their first contact with a church.
  • Five will earn their church religious award.
  • Only rarely will one be brought before juvenile court.
  • One will enter the clergy.
  • Eighteen will develop hobbies used during their adult life.
  • Eight will enter a vocation that was learned through the badge or patch program.
  • Seventeen will be future Girl Scout volunteers.
  • One will use her Girl Scouting skills to save a life.
  • One will use her Girl Scouting skills to save her own life.

That is a pretty good return on an investment in Girl Scouting!
