Brownie Quest - Meeting #1 - October 4th

NEXT MEETING - FRIDAY NOVEMBER 1  (Lisa Seeger will be helping me on that day)
This page has one (1) file you need to print out: Making a Family Star, and the Family Star itself. Please have the girls complete the Star with you and bring the family star to the next meeting.

Parents,

We began the Brownie Quest book doing the Trail of the Three Keys. We'll earn our Discover Key (badge) in two meetings.

The three keys are: the Discover, Connect and Take Action Key.  Once they earn all 3 keys they earn the Brownie Quest Award.

1st Key Step 1: Girl Scout Brownies discover special qualities and talents about themselves.
  • We had the girls talk about their talents and qualities.  On Nov. 1, we will write them on stars (page 49 Brownie Quest book) and paste on the troop poster board.
1st Key Step 2: Discovering the Values of the Girl Scout Law!
  • On Nov. 1 we will have the girls do the “Discovering Values” activity on page 50 of their Quest Book.
  • Tie in how the founder Juliette Gordon Low used her talent and qualities to start Girls Scouts. We will have the girls read together pg 8-10 about the founder in the Girl Scout Brownie Girl Scout Handbook.

1st Key Step 3: Discovering our family talents and values

  • Have girls prepare the Family Star by asking your family what value of the Girl Scout Law is most important to them.

  • On Nov. 1. we will read The Elf Story - Chapter 1 of Brownie Quest Book - Note that a key concept in the book is the acronym ELF:Explore, Link Arms, Fly Into Action!
