Welcome to Boy Scout Troop #179!
Haddon Township, NJ.
Boy Scout Troop 179 is based in Haddon Township, NJ, but is not exclusively for residents from HT. Ideally a boy interested in Scouting will join a Troop in his own town so he is enjoying Scouting with the same friends he goes to school with. But not all towns have a Troop and that is why Troop 179 hosts boys from other neighboring towns. Even from other towns, close bonds are formed between all Scouts in the Troop. Boy Scouts range in ages from 11-17 and a youth can join at any time in that range. Troop 179 goes camping once a month throughout the year including a week long summer camp. The boys learn how to plan and lead those trip. We meet weekly where the boys lead outdoor skills training, such as first aid, winter camping, bicycle maintenance and many other topics. T179 also participates in many community service activities throughout the year. Many Troop 179 Scouts are very busy with school work and extracurricular activities, including running cross country, baseball, marching band and theater. T179 Scouting can easily fit in with those busy schedules.
