Welcome to the site of Pathway to Adventure Council's 2017 Jamboree Venturing Crew

The 2017 Jamboree is July 19 - July 28, 2017 at The Summit Bechtel Family Scouting Reserve (37 degrees 53' N, 81 degrees 6 minutes W)

Every four years, the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America organizes the ultimate Boy Scout and Venturing Crew experience, the National Jamboree!  The National Scout Jamboree is a gathering, or Jamboree of thousands of Boy Scouts, usually held every four years and organized by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Scouts from all over the nation and world have the opportunity to attend. Jamborees are considered to be one of several unique experiences that the BSA offers. The first jamboree was held in Washington DC in 1937 with attendance over 27,000. In 2010, Scouting celebrated its 100th anniversary with over 43,000 attendees.

Jamborees are rich in tradition and history. The 2017 National Jamboree promises that and more. The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve, or The Summit (for short), is the permanent home of the National Jamborees. When not in use for Jamborees, The Summit serves as the fourth operating National High Adventure Base, a national camp school and training center. The Summit will also host the 2019 World Jamboree.

The council is planning to send six troops and two Venturing Crews, plus 30+ staff volunteers.....so far.
