Welcome to Troop 586 Tipp City,Ohio

Troop 586 History

In 1999, a group of parents felt that Tipp City could support another Boy Scout Troop, one that would fit their thoughts and expectations and follow a program more suited to their idea of Scouting.  In October of the same year, Troop 586 was granted a 16-month charter and sponsored by the Frank E. Robinson, American Legion Post 586.  Starting with 6 young men, 3 committee members and a lot of enthusiasm, the adventure began. Since that time, the Troop has grown in numbers and has become well established in the local community and the Miami Valley Council.

Troop 586 strives to provide many opportunities for the boys to learn new skills while enjoying their experience in Scouting. Our goal is for every scout in the Troop to be given the opportunity to advance in rank and to achieve the highest rank in Scouting - Eagle Scout.  To date, we have produced 19 Eagle Scouts with several more set to finish either merit badges or projects to reach Eagle. The young men in our troop are active in the National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) and the Order of the Arrow, scouting's camping national honor society. Our troop teaches leadership, citizenship, and self respect while camping once a month, every month.  Our troop mascot is a turtle named Soup. His likeness is prominently displayed on our trailer and is a known entity around Miami Valley Council.

Cub Scout Pack 285 of Tipp City is the pack most closely affiliated with this Troop. Several enjoyable activities are planned throughout the year for both organizations to interact with each other. This provides the Cub Scouts an opportunity to see what Boy Scouts has to offer, while providing another opportunity for the Boy Scouts to develop leadership skills through interaction with the younger boys.  Many of the Troop's new members have "crossed over" from Pack 285, but all boys from throughout the Mimi Valley area are always welcome to join.  As Troop 586 looks to the future, steady membership growth and good times are anticipated.
