Welcome to Cub Scouting!

Cub Scouts is for boys in grades 1 to 5.

Pack 253, located in Dixon, CA, is chartered by the Lions Club. We have been a pack since 1956, making us one of the longest established packs in the area.

We are part of Trailblazer District Pack, a grouping of 16 packs in Vacaville, Dixon, Winters, and Davis.  Pack 253 is PACK OF THE YEAR in 2009 for our well run program.

   1st graders are "Tigers"

     2nd graders are "Wolves"

    3rd graders are "Bears"

  4th & 5th graders are "Webelos"

The highest achievement in cub scouts is the "arrow of light"

Pack 253 is active year-round, and there is at least one major event for our scouts in every month:

  •  September – Raingutter Regatta
  • October – Halloween party
  • November – Scouting For Food, Fall Family Camp
  • December – Caroling and Family Fun Night
  • January- Pinewood Derby
  • February - Blue and Gold Banquet
  • March – Kite Day
  • April – Spring Family Camp
  • May – May Fair Parade

  • Summer Program: June, July, & August: Rivercats Game, Cool Day at the Movies, Bowling, Pool Party & BBQ, Twilight Day Camp, Resident Summer Camp. If a boy attends at least 3 summertime activities, then he received the "Summertime Pack Award."

How Cub Scouting works…

Cub scouting is an all-volunteer program. Every activity we do happens because a parent in the pack volunteered to organize it. When the pack wants to do something (like "let’s go camping") but no one agrees to organize it, then the activity gets canceled.  If every parent volunteers to organize just one activity per year, then the pack will have tons of fun things to do!!! Try to find something you enjoy and volunteer to help out.

Your volunteer efforts will benefit your son for his lifetime. Plus it’s a lot of fun!

Week 1: DEN MEETING = Your son will be in a "den" will other boys in the same grade. The den will meet for 1 hour doing learning activities, arts and crafts, or playing a game.

Week 2: DEN MEETING = Your son will be in a "den" will other boys in the same grade. The den will meet for 1 hour doing learning activities, arts and crafts, or playing a game.

Week 3: DEN OUTING = The den will may go somewhere to learn about the monthly theme. Certain months the den may skip the outing in which case the den does not meet in week 3

Week 4: PACK MEETING = All dens (tiger, wolf, bear, and webelos) get together for a pack meeting to share what they did that month and to receive awards earned.

Bonus Pack Activities: Usually, once each month the pack gets together for an activity. That may be things like Kite flying day, racing boats or cars the boys make, camping, etc… These are really fun events and you should try to attend when possible.

PARENTS MEETING Second Tuesday each month at 7pm in = The parents of the pack get together to plan to next couple of months. This meeting is for adults, and children should not attend.

If you are interested in joining, please contact Betty Nunes (530) 220-0359  or monkey31806@yahoo.com

    FAQ – Frequently Asked Question

    How much does Scouting cost?

There is an annual fee of $70 per year, which includes a monthly subscription to "Boys Life" magazine. The fee works out to just $6 a month and covers the cost of awards that the boys can earn during the year.

You will also need to purchase a uniform at Robbins Dept Store in Downtown Dixon (111 N. first street. A shirt, neckerchief w/tie slide, hat, den patch, pack patch, and belt are the items your son will need. The cost is about $60 for a uniform. Or purchase from Scout shop, or online.

Some pack events have a cost if you want to participate. We are non-profit, so some events are free, using funds we raise each year selling popcorn in September. We keep costs down as much as possible because we want all the boys to participate in as much as possible.
