Troop 29 Uniform Policy

There are two (2) different Boy Scout uniforms that we wear: "Class A” and "Class B”.

We wear the Class A uniform from the start of the scout year (Labor Day), through our annual summer camping trip to Camp Ockanickon (late June). It’s a good idea to wear your Class B underneath in case we play games at a meeting. The Class A uniform is also worn to and from all camping trips.

The Class B uniform is worn from after the Ockanickon summer camp through Labor Day.

On the first Monday of each month (September-June) we wear our "Full Class A" uniform for uniform inspection.

Courts of Honor are held approximately four (4) times a year. Full class A is to be worn.

Reminders will be sent by email about the appropriate uniform for an event.

If your son knows he is coming to meetings directly from school, sports or other events, put his Class A shirt in his backpack or the car.

Class A Uniform

The Class A uniform consists of blue jeans or Boy Scout official pants, and the brown Boy Scout uniform shirt. The uniform shirt should be up to date with your rank, troop position and quality unit patches and be tucked in and looking neat. Shorts are acceptable but not athletic shorts.

A "full" class A uniform includes all of the above plus the neckerchief and merit badge sash.  The merit badge sash should only be worn after it has three merit badges on it and is worn over the right shoulder. If you are a member of the Order f the Arrow, the OA sash is to be worn for OA events in place of the merit badge sash.

Here is the section of the BSA web site that refers to all the gory details of the uniform specs and also a link to section 2 which is where the patch locations are given.

Class B Uniform

The Class B uniform consists of blue jeans or Boy Scout official pants, and a t-shirt with anything Boy Scouts on it. (ex: Troop 29, Ockanickon, Jamboree). Shorts are also acceptable.
