Quick Facts

Troop 1965-Sponsored by the Lake Braddock Community Association

·       We have been operating since the mid 1970s

·       We meet on Mondays during the school year.

·       We go camping once per month-tent camping and backpacking

·       Each month we have a theme focusing on Rank Advancement and Merit Badges

o   Next week we are going to camp at Burke Lake and will work on Leave No Trace, fire building and cooking for newer scouts.  We will also work on Golf, Orienteering and Geocaching merit badges.

·       We do some things every year-day events such as skiing, rock wall climbing, Holiday Sing-along at a local retirement community, a merit badge weekend at Camp Letts and a week of summer camp at places like Ockaniccan Scout Reservation in eastern Pennsylvania and Goshen Scout Reservation in Southwest Virginia.

o   Most boys get two to four merit badges at camp including at least one Eagle required merit badge.

·       We are a small Troop with a focus on each Scout’s personal goals for development and advancement.

·       We had two Scouts attain the Eagle Rank last year and three boys have set that goal for themselves this year.

We have at least one scheduled campout or day outing every month.

Scouts on rank and merit badge advancement individually.                 Additionally, each month the troop works on one merit badge.

Other Activities to be scheduled include one week of Summer Camp, outings to go bowling, climb rock walls, and ride horses.  The Scouts determine the Program and activities.

The Troop also participates in Service Projects such as Scouting for Food, Pride In Lake Braddock Day and Community Clean Up Day.

We meet on Mondays at 7:30 pm at the Ashbourn Community Center adjacent to the Lake Braddock Community Association offices.-GPS Address is 9526 Ashbourn Drive

During our meetings, we work on Scout skills, advancement and merit badges
