On behalf of Troop 28 we would like to invite any Webelos, Boy Scouts, or boys looking for a troop to come to one of our meetings. We only meet during the school year. During our meetings, we work on merit badges and play a game. Your son get to see firsthand how our troop works, and meet our scouts and leaders.

Scouting helps youth develop many skills such as leadership skills, respect for others, good citizenship skills, self-reliance, and mental and physical fitness. For just over a century, Boy Scouts have given youth timeless values and knowledge to help them become leaders in the community and in their country.

All the ideals of scouting are spelled out in the Scout law, oath, slogan, and motto.  A scout follows these and contiueally tries to improve himself. He works hard to reach his high goals. Once he reaches his goals, then he has control over who and what he becomes. While planning for his goals, he experiences personal growth. They grow while doing things such as service projects and good turns for others.

Scouting has youth become leaders within their troop. It has them practice both shared and total leadership. Understanding these concepts help the scout accept the leadership role of others and guides him towards citizenship of scouting.

Your son will have to take up a leadership position to increase your rank in scouting starting at the rank of First Class.

Much of scouting takes place outdoors. In the outdoor setting, scouts share their responsibilities and learn to live with each other. In nature the skills we practice in our meetings finally are put to use. Being in nature has scouts enjoy the beauty of the world.

Troop 28 of Meriden, CT practices these and many more at our meetings. All of us at Troop 28 - Meriden would enjoy to have you son come to one of our troop meetings.

If you have any questions please contact our website administrator or visit one of our meetings. All the information about our meetings on our main page.
