Where will my new Cub Scout begin?

A new Cub Scout can start any time and at any grade.

Tiger Den

First Grade
or 6-7 Yrs

Our Goals A family, home, and community centered program that encourages ethical decision-making skills.

Summary The boys participate with their adult partners. The program emphasizes shared leadership, learning about the community, and family understanding.

Wolf Den

2nd Grade
or 7-8 Yrs

Our Goals A year-round family, home, and community centered program that encourages ethical decision-making skills.

Summary The boys will learn more about staying healthy, knowing their home and community, tools for fixing and building, cooking healthy, being safe, making good choices, and much more.

Bear Den

Third Grade
or 8-9 Yrs

Our Goals In the Bear Den, there are four general achievement groups: God, Country, Family, and Self. There are 120 achievement tasks and your Bear Cub must earn a certain number of achievements in each of the four groups to earn his Bear Badge. This is the year your son will grow in amazing ways. After earning their Bear Badge, the scout may earn arrow points by completing additional achievement tasks.

Summary Much of the advancement for the Bear rank is done by the scout with his family outside of the den. The parent signs off in the scout's handbook and the Den Leader records the advancements from the handbook in our tracking Software. The Bear program relies heavily on family involvement, but you will see this gradually change with the scout doing more with his den and more individual direction as he graduates to Webelos.

Webelos I Den                            Webelos II Den

4th Grade                                      5th Grade
or 9-10 Yrs                                      or 10-11 Yrs

Our Goals Webelos is a 20 month program for 4th and 5th grade boys to prepare to join a Boy Scout troop while learning outdoor skills and participating in 20 different activity badges. A well-run group of Webelos is a gradual change from being an 'adult-run' den to being a 'boy-run' patrol ready to fit right into an adventurous scouting troop.

Summary The Webelos program has two major milestones - the Webelos rank badge to be earned at the 4th grade level and the Arrow of Light to be earned at the 5th grade. The final part of Webelos is bridging over into a Boy Scout troop selected individually by the scout.
