Last October, Pack 1144 Cubmaster Matt Swartz was enjoying an informal Halloween party when he heard a neighbor's anxious cry for help: a nine-year old girl was choking on some food! Matt immediately came to the rescue, applying a child-appropriate version of the Heimlich Maneuver. The food was dislodged and the girl quickly recovered. Witnesses believe Matt's quick, skilled actions probably saved the girl's life, and he has been recognized by the BSA's National Court of Honor with the Medal of Merit.
Cubmaster Swartz will receive the award at the upcoming Pack 1144 meeting on April 20 at 7pm ET. All of Pack 1144 is very proud of you!
