Bike or Hike – April 21st

Scouts have the option to bike or hike on the Redbank Valley Trail with the pack.  Scouts are to meet in the church parking lot at 6:30pm.  Scouts wanting to bike will meet in a group with Brian to discuss  bicycle safety rules and have equipment checked before riding the trail as a group.  All scouts must wear a helmet to participate.  Scouts wanting to hike will meet in a group with Joy to discuss hiking safety rules.  All scouts should be wearing closed shoes; no flip flops or open toe shoes.

Community Clean-Up – April 26th

This is an important day for scouts and their community.  We are asking for all scouts to please try to attend as conservation hours are an important scouting activity and conservation project hours are necessary for future Cub Scout awards.  We are to meet at Gumtown Park on Water Street in New Bethlehem.  The pack, along with the community, will spread out over New Bethlehem and the Redbank Valley Trails to pick up litter, sweep, rake, clean out drainage ditches and get flower beds ready for spring.  Scouts will be provided with gloves, bags and lunch.  We are asking Scouts to please wear their Akela pack shirt.  Please sign up so we may have a count of participants for lunch.

Spring Family Camping – May 2nd thru 4th at Coil Farm

This is a family fun pack event!  We hope to have a large turnout as the boys always have a memorable time.  Scouts and families are invited to camp over the weekend, but you can visit on Saturday if your schedule does not allow for camping.  This is an open and flexible camping trip that is great for families who aren’t too familiar with the camping environment.  Since the scouts will be camping on a farm, a house with running water and a bathroom will be available to utilize.  If you do not have a tent, please notify at sign-up as the scouts have extra camping equipment available to provide for those who need.  Saturday’s events include geology, flag football, water wading, hike for ice cream, scavenger hunt, a pack dinner over the fire and astronomy.  More details and directions are available.  Please sign-up so that we may have a count for Saturday’s dinner.

Redbank Valley Park – May 12th

Scouts are to meet in the parking lot of the roller skating rink at Redbank Valley Park on Monday, April 12th at 6:30pm.  We are asking for one adult to accompany scouts.  The pack will sweep out the shelters, pick-up trash, plant flowers and clean-up around the playground.  We ask that all scouts hold off from playing on the playground until the pack gathering is finished.  We plan on cleaning up for ½ hour, and then have a pack kickball game.
