Public Pencil Project - Girl Scout Troop 5157 (Santee, California)

We have now started this project. Between now and October 20th please start saving extra pencils. The girls have decided to try and collect 1,000 pencils this year, and have also decided to help local U.S. school this year as well.

For this the girl were also asked to draw up some ideas of what they would like the patch to look like. We as a troop will vote for the design when we first start back up in Sept.

For our Junior girls this can also be part of there Bronze award we will work together as a small sub-group to help do all the necessary steps to complete that. (I can explain what that is in more detail when we are together if your unaware of what the Bronze, Silver and Gold awards are.)

All children should have an oppertunity to go to school and have at least 1 pencil to write with. That is what the Pencil Project is all about, helping the areas of the world that can not afford them. From one child to another with an act of kindness.

So when were out school shopping and you can get pencils for like .25c a pack please pick up at least one extra for other kids around the world. :)
