The best way to begin your list is by starting with the most basic items, including clothing, shelter, outdoor bedding, first-aid supplies, and cookware. Once you're sure you have all of these items on your list, you can begin branching out to some less essential items. When you get to this part of your camping equipment list, each member of the family will have different priorities and ideas about what is important.
You can make the list and planning portions of your trip just a much fun as the camping trip itself. Get the whole family involved and let everyone have some input, even the children. This makes the whole family feel like they are equally important to what needs to be included.
The last items to be added to your camping equipment list will be things that aren't necessary for the trip or for any particular activities. These will be items that will add a measure of comfort and pleasure to the outing. This could include any number of items, such as chairs and lounges, or anything else that you would not really need for camping, but is sure nice to have.
Please DO NOT ALLOW your scout to bring electronic games or other items which would prevent him from enjoying the camping experience.
If you take your time and plan your list as a family, the whole experience will be more rewarding and enjoyable for everyone.
If you don't have any equipment don't let that stop you. Many families have extra equipment you can borrow. All you have to do is ask, we are here to help.
