I’d like to explain how we work on the badges.
The first thing we work on is getting the bobcat badge. Every new scout, no matter what grade, must have this Badge completed before he can earn any of the others. It’s pretty easy to get, we’ll work on it at the den meeting.
Once that’s done we’ll start working on the Tiger Cub badge. This is done by completing the Achievement section of the book. Pages 37-77.For each one of these done you get a bead to go on your instant recognition badge (picture on page 18) Den events, Family events and Go See its each get a different color bead. If it’s done right, once you have 15 beads you’re ready to get your tiger cub badge. The electives in the second half of the book earn beads. You can complete these at any time, but we can’t give them out until After they get their tiger cub badge.
Den Meeting
Between now and the den meeting, please work with your boys with the material in the book on pages 25-35.This includes scout promise, Law of the pack, Webelos, Scout Sign,Handshake, Motto, and Salute.
During the meeting we’re going to go over these things with the boys so at the next Pack Meeting the boys that are ready can get their Bobcat badge. We’re not going to make anyone recite the things by themselves. If they’re there and you agree that they know it well enough, that’s good enough for me. All of this is the honor system. You sign off on 1-8 and let me know via an email and I’ll get everyone a badge to receive at the next Pack meeting.
Also, look in the book with your kids at the tiger badge requirements (1-5) Some of these things we’ll do at the camping trip.
Pack Meeting
Always try to wear your uniform! Why? If our den does the flag ceremony, only kids in uniform (shirt, neckerchief, hat) can paticipate.
If your scout has earned an award they must be in uniform to receive it.
And don’t forget, they CAN wear their uniforms to school on Pack Meeting Days.
Please be thinking about some of these things that you can help organize:
Go see its - We have five total that are required for the Tiger Cub Badge, Mrs. Beam has found a great way to do our Library visit in October. We have completed the Fire Station Go see it and during the Camping trip we'll do the Den Hike. That leaves a sporting event and a visit to a Television/ Radio station or a newspaper. If anyone would like to get the information on these please let me know.
Electives can be worked on at any time with your child, keep track of the ones you complete and after he earns the Tiger Cub Badge we can start awarding the electives yellow beads.
