Event Descriptions


Popcorn Kernel: Chairs the popcorn sales in October/November. Attend kick-off meeting and pick up sales materials; place order for the pack with popcorn sales direct chair; pick up popcorn from warehouse & store in your home; organize door to door sale (Greenwood area); organize at least two "show & sells" (at a store); set up accounts for pack treasurer; set up a pick up date for popcorn; return unsold cases to the warehouse.

Scouting for Food: November: Pick up fliers and bags at roundtable (2nd Thursday of the month at Warren Tower High School); set up actual event: pass out fliers on Friday & pick up food on Saturday (need parents with trucks or vans for Saturday); Drop off food at designated location.

Christmas Party: December pack meeting; Organize a pot luck with parents; purchase gifts for scouts (pinewood derby cares) & siblings (your choice); sing Christmas carols. We have had a toys for tots event with a marine coming to visit & talk to the boys; something like this or another type of gues can be invited (no Santa Claus, please)

Blue & Gold Banquet: February pack meeting - (Dinner first then meeting): Organize a banquet for the celebration of scouting month (we ususally get chicken from somewhere and parents do pot luck); have dens do centerpieces for tables ;  secure entertainment (magician, balloon guy, etc.) Purchase gifts for the scouts and siblings; decorate hall at church if desired (Theme is blue and gold); purchase tabeware, plates, etc.; arrive early to set up; organize parents to help clean up. Invite: District Commission, assistand district commissioner, Paster & Mrs. Cascione, president of the congregation & his wife.

Pinewood Derby: March Saturday event- Scouts race against their den. Lunch provided

Father/son bake-off: March pack meeting - Scouts bake and decorate a bake item on their own with a male helper

Box Car Races: April pack meeting - Scouts decorate and race their box car


Memorial Day Parade: May - Must send in an application to the city. See City website.
Bottle Drive: May

Family Camp: June - Plan family camp in January - Usually falls on the weekend after Father's Day.
