What to Bring to Summer Camp

Underwear - underwear are nice.  Be sure to bring plenty.

Class B Shirts - these are pretty cool.   You wear them around camp.

T-Shirts & Shorts - these are nice to sleep in & wear around camp.

Swim suit - you need one if you are taking a sailing or swimming class.  NOTE: You will need to pass a basic swim test at camp.

Class A Shirt & Neckerchief - you need one of these for a few things at camp:  1. Troop Picture 2. Dinner every night 3. The church service

Light Source - you should probably bring a few light sources.  First, you will need a lantern for your tent.  Secondly, it is good to have a headlamp, as working with one is easier than carrying a flashlight.  Finally, you should bring a traditional flashlight as backup. Be sure to bring extra batteries.

Money - this is pretty nice; it can be used to buy ice cream or other amenities at the Trading Post (the camp store).  If you are bringing your own money, I recommend taking 15-20 dollars.  If your parents are giving you money, I recommend asking for 40-80 dollars.

Bug Spray - not really required; only use it if you want to have skin at the end of the week. Aerosol spray not allowed.

Water Bottle - Hydration is essential.  Don't leave for camp without this!

Sunscreen - only necessary if you don't want skin cancer. Aerosol spray not allowed.

Rain Gear - be prepared for a storm at least once during the week.

Sheets & Pillow - The cots have mattresses, so bring sheets, not a sleeping bag.  Sleeping bags are uncomfortably hot.

Towels & Wash Cloths - bring several for showering.

Soap, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Comb, Deodorant - yes, please.

Socks
x8 - these are essential.  Bring many in case some of them get wet.

Knife - it is against camp regulations to bring a sheath knife, a knife longer than 5" or a knife that is spring activated.

Flip-Flops - for when you shower. It is not advised to stand barefoot on the shower mats, as you could contract staph or athlete's foot.

Shoes - boots or old sneakers; something that can withstand hiking on semi-rugged terrain (clay, dirt, gravel).

Scout Book, Notebook, Pen/Pencil - to fulfill Merit Badge requirements.

Footlocker - to hold all your stuff. Walmart has the cheapest footlockers-you can find them with the back-to-college stuff.
