Welcome to the Troop 758 website.
We are located in Crofton, Maryland and are part of The Capital district in the Baltimore Area Council. Our philosophy follows the ideals set out by Baden Powell the founder of Scouting. This means we are a boy-led Troop, allowing the youth leaders to plan and execute the operation of the programs, under the supervision of trained adult leaders.
Currently the Troop consists of approximately 60 youth who are divided into 7 patrols. Each patrol leader is responsible for helping develop, encourage and train the younger Scouts in his patrol. As the boys progress in knowledge and skills they each will take on various roles in keeping the Troop running.
Monthly the Troop has an outdoor activity, usually a 2-night camping trip. Typically we camp the first weekend of the month departing Friday evenings around 6pm and returning back to Crofton early Sunday afternoon. Efforts are made to keep our trips less than 2 hour drive time. Each July, the Troop attends a BSA summer camp for one week. About every third year a trek to Philmont, New Mexico is organized where the boys take on a 12 day backpacking adventure. In 2016 we are also taking a crew to BSA's Sea Base Adventure in Florida. In 2017, I am hopeful that members of the Troop will attend the National Jamboree. As you can see, we are a very active Troop.
Earning the rank of Eagle should be a goal of every Scout. We provide the opportunities and foundation for success if the individual youth is motivated to work hard and earn Eagle. There is much more to Scouts than earning Eagle – but we encourage each youth to aim for this goal.
In my 40+ years involvement in the Scouting program I’ve met many men who regret dropping out of the program or having never gotten involved, but have never met a man who regretted his time in Scouts. Scouting is a great program - so join us today!
