Pack 140 Annual Recharter

What is Recharter?

Recharter is a time when a Chartered Organization, in our case this is Oak Grove United Methodist Church, a unit, the scout, and leaders renew their membership with the Boy Scouts of America. BSA issues an agreement between The Greater Tampa Bay Area Council and Oak Grove United Methodist Church. This allows the church to use a BSA program to serve youth in our community. For example, a Cub Scout Pack uses Cub Scouting to serve youth in the kindergarten through fifth grades. BSA requires that the charter be renewed annually to continue using the program. We call that annual renewal “recharter”.

What else happens during recharter? In addition to renewing the unit charter, recharter time is when all youth and adult members (leaders) renew their membership in BSA.
Recharter enrolls a scout or Leader in the Boy Scouts of America from January 1 through December 31 of the upcoming year.

What do parents need to do?

Returning Scouts and leaders pay $43, new leaders fill out an application and pay the $43.

What does the $43 cover?

The $43 covers the recharter fee of $33.00, and a fee of $10.00 for liability insurance, church organizational rep fee, & the church registration fee for a total of $43.

Cash & credit cards are accepted for payment

When is the $43 due?

Money is due by December 4th, so that the unit leaders have adequate time to turn in the paper work to The Greater Tampa Bay Area Council. This money does NOT go to our pack it is money that goes to the BSA.

Can my scout use their scout account to pay for recharter?

Yes, your scout can use their scout account to pay for recharter if he has enough money in his account.
