PROJECT HOPE FOR THE HOMELESS

The Convoy Is Coming!!

The Convoy Is Coming!!

The Convoy of Hope is coming to Northeast Ohio!

We need all of Lake and Geauga County area Girl Scouts

to help us help the hundreds of families in need in our area!

Project Hope for the Homeless Shelter is one of the many sponsors of this year’s event and

has asked the Girl Scouts to help them collect 1,000 Hygiene Kits to be handed out

at the Lake County Fairgrounds on June 26, 2010 from 10 am – 2 pm

The Convoy of Hope will be offering many FREE services to these honored families like:

Groceries, Haircuts, Shoes, Family Portraits, a Job Fair, Medical and Dental Screening

Activities for the Children and much more!

HERE IS THE CATCH: There has to be 1,000 Kits pledged by May 1st

or we won’t be able to hand ANY Kits out. We can’t let that happen!!

Girl Scouts ARE resourceful and we CAN do it!!!

This is a big undertaking, but it can be easily done if:

Each Girl Scout family donates at least ONE Family Hygiene Kit

OR

Troops pool their resources, collect items, and pack kits as a group.

We have almost 1,000 girls registered in Mentor alone!

If we add all Lake and Geauga troops, there will be MORE than enough Kits to distribute!!!!

We will be collecting finished Hygiene Kits from 1:00-4:00 pm Sunday May 16 at Lakeland Community College.

Each Hygiene Kit for a family of four is to contain the following in a gallon-size zipper plastic bag:

? 1 bottle of 2-in-1 shampoo (full size)

? 4 toothbrushes

? 1 toothpaste (full size)

? 2 bars of antibacterial soap

? 2 small hand towels

? 2 washcloths

? 4 combs

Each Kit is estimated to cost about $5 - $6. That’s less than two boxes of cookies!!!!

(ANY “leftover” Kit items are welcome, and will be added to kits to accommodate larger families)

To pledge the number of Hygiene Kits that your troop will be able to put together please

contact us ASAP and BEFORE MAY 1st at GSEventsSU765@hotmail.com

To receive more information about the event and what else Girl Scouts can do to help, or to volunteer to

hand out the “Kits” at the event, or to get information about collection sites and dates contact us at:

GSEventsSU765@hotmail.com

We are organizing ALL the Girl Scouts together as ONE group, so please make us your first contact.

Adopt a Family for Christmas

Dear Leaders and Families,

I just wanted to let everyone know that we had an overwhelming response to the Adopt a Family program this year and given the economic climate I am so grateful for each and every one of you and your families and how tremondously generous all of you have been especially at this time of year. We sincerely impacted the lives of three families this season is such a positive way and I just know that your generorosity will live on in their hearts the whole year through!

Thanks again and I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Safe New Year!
