Troop 402 Annual Fees / Dues

There is an annual re-charter fee of $24.00 which goes directly to the BSA. The cost for new Scouts to join the Troop is prorated at $2.00/month for the number of months remaining in the Scouting year.

There is a $12.00 fee for the annual subscription to Boys Life.

Beginning with 2015 recharter, monthly dues will be $6.00 per Scout, or $72.00 for the year.  These dues cover the normal operating costs for the Troop such as: patches, merit badges, rank badges, advancement cards, troop equipment maintenance and repairs, and any other materials the Scouts may need during the course of the year in order to put on a quality scouting program for the boys.

Money the Troop earns from fundraisers goes towards covering most of the costs of camping materials used for camp outs and other Special Events, also for purchasing replacement camping gear for the Troop.  The normal operating costs are used for: upkeep of the Troop trailer, tires and all its equipment, renewal of the Trailer License Plate and Insurance fees, wicks for the camping lanterns, propane used on camp outs, camping gear repair parts, banking fees, administrative supplies (stamps, envelopes and such), decorations and certain food items at particular special Scout meetings, and Troop Courts of Honor.  It also covers the costs of certificates, awards, handbooks, training materials, merit badge books, merit badges, patrol patches, position of leadership responsibility patches, rank advancement patches, ceremony candles, etc....

The cost of campouts will change according to the activities involved and the location of the camp out.  Scouts and their parents/guardians will be advised of the costs prior to each activity via a permission slip being sent home with the Scout for their Parental/Guardian signatures.  Normal camp outs are usually between $10.00 - $15.00 per person, which covers food costs.  Special camp outs, where additional activities are included, may have additional fees that are slightly higher.  Council and District camporees require an additional fee (typically about $15.00) that goes directly to the District or the Council.

Please make sure that your Scout pays his dues, either on a monthly, or yearly basis.  Dues are collected during the first Troop meeting of each month. Unpaid dues could result in delayed advancement and other benefits.
