2014 Thinking Day Service Unit Event

Take a trip around the world to see how other Girl Scouts and Girl Guides live.

This is open to all levels; however, this may be a big undertaking for the Daisy level. Therefore Daisy troops can be visitors for the day and participate in the activities. Daisy troops will still need to register. Depending on the number attending, we may have to assign a travel time.

Each participating troop decides upon a country to represent. They plan a tabletop exhibit about their country (e.g. a poster board or stand-up display, food item, a swap , display items, special dress, etc.). On event day, participants carry a passport and travel from country to country.

Each Troop will get one cafeteria size table (about 30” W x 12’ L) to create an exhibit for their country. The exhibit may include:

  • A fact board
  • Sample items from the country like coins, clothing, photographs, etc. (Anything that will give a sense of flavor about the country.)
  • The country’s flag.
  • Food samples representing country. Example - China may have fortune cookies
  • Props. Example - England did a small replica of Big Ben
  • Troops may wear costumes or dress in the fashion of the country. Example - France dressed as mimes
  • Divide the troop in two groups: Groups A and B. Have an adult supervise Group A at the table to present while another adult supervisor travels with Group B. Groups will switch at a specified time.
 VISITOR Checklist:
Wear Girl Scout uniform
Bring a bag or tote to carry items and SWAPS

Place: Kittredge Magnet School
Time: TBD (morning)
Date:  Feb 22, 2014

Please Email Renee H your country of choice.  Deadline is Jan 27th.
