Shoe Boxes

One way for the girls to collect goods and distribute them is in themed shoeboxes.  Below are some common shoebox ideas:

  • Birthday Boxes - Kids who are staying in hospitals or shelters don't often get to have birthday parties.  This is a great way to make sure the kids can have a little bit of "normal" for their birthday.  Boxes include a box of cake mix, a can of frosting, balloons, plates, forks, candles, and are wrapped like presents.
  • Animal Adoption Boxes - To help encourage people to adopt pets at a local shelter, girls can supply them with a stash of "thank you for adopting" boxes.  These include treats, toys, a small amount of food, fancy tag, etc.
  • Hygiene Kits - Whether people are at a women's shelter, or a homeless shelter, there is often need for simple things that make a person feel better about themselves.  These boxes can include toothpaste, toothbrushes, combs, shampoo, conditioner, deoderant, soap, floss, q-tips, etc.  If the boxes are going to a women's shelter, they can also include feminine products.
