CUB SCOUTING The Boy Scouts of America was founded in 1910. The Cub Scouts were formed 20 years later in 1930. Cub Scouting helps boys, grades 1st through 5th, by providing them with age-appropriate activities designed to develop their personal character. Volunteers, mostly parents, work with the Scouts help them achieve the Cub Scouting goals.
The ten purposes of Cub Scouting are: Character Development, Spiritual Growth, Good Citizenship, Sportsmanship, Family Understanding, Respectful Relationships, Personal Achievement, Friendly Service, Fun and Adventure, and Preparation for Boy Scouts.
Boys who participate in Cub Scouting join a Pack and are assigned to a den. The den is an age appropriate level - Tiger Cubs (first-graders), Wolf Cub Scouts (second-graders), Bear Cub Scouts (third-graders), and Webelos Scouts (fourth- and fifth-graders) - the dens meet once or twice per month.
Once every month, the scouts and their family members get together for a pack meeting under the direction of the Cubmaster and pack committee. This committee is comprised of parents of the boys and members of the chartered organization.
